A quick one for you... Phenylalanine is something that I have been allergic to for quite some time now. Might not sound familiar to most but it's in aspartame (NutraSweet). I started reading the sides of all sorts of drink packages & diet items to avoid the symptoms that follow after the consumption of Phenylalanine. Mostly I end up feeling like there is electricity under my skin, I get palpitations & my heart rate increases. These can go away within an hour & there are times that I have ingested it unknowingly. It is in gum, which is in such a low level that it doesnt' effect most but I used to LOVE Crystal Light & once they switched to that I had to avoid it. Luckily now there are a lot of options for Phenylalanine-free low cal options but does anyone want to be eating or drinking something that it warns you it contains it? I mean outside of the main allergies (soy, milk, nuts) this is a chemical that it says in bold letters.
Google Phenylalanine sometime & see what the experts say... sweetpoison.com is a good place to start...
