In the spirit of the upcoming holiday I thought that I would bring up a holiday revered by young people everywhere... The night before Thanksgiving drunkfest!!! I have been asked by several people where I am going to get blitzed that night. Alas, I made a promise that I intend to keep... No more getting trashed on the night before Thanksgiving.
It only take 1 bad year to spoil the rest. I showed up at my family dinner in a haze, smelling like the Captain was still knee deep in me & sick as a dog as soon as I got any food down. Now there aren't a lot of young children, but I do have a sister who is 20 years younger than I am & I was not setting the standard of things to come very high that year. So I promised that I would not show up in any stupor like I had in previous years. I can tell you this, I have had drinks the night before, but wasn't lacquered. I did enjoy the flavors more than I had since turning 21. I also became a helpful part of the family by bringing desserts & appetizers.
Do I miss the festivities??? No. But I am happy that I endured 1 too many to appreciate having just enough.
Throughout life I have had these little epiphanies that I find interesting, amazing, awkward and, sometimes, worth sharing... Figured that this would be a nice way to share this with people. =)

Happy Birthday Zac!!!
Just wanted to wish my little brother Zac a happy 20th birthday. I can't believe that 20 years have passed since he changed the dynamic of my family. I wouldn't be the same without him. Love you Zac!!!
Mind's Eye
I got a massage on this past Tuesday. Julie at Perfectly Polished in Hudson – she was amazing. Well, during any massage my mind wanders to the strangest places. Normally this occurs when I am face-down on the table, face-up I chat up the masseuse but as soon as I am face down I tend to just zone out & try to not fall asleep but stay relaxed. My mind tend to wander into the strangest places as a completely relax. Sometimes it’s just about random life matters that I know I should address but don’t like to think about with the normal day-to-day stress. Sometimes it’s about animal’s thoughts, flowers, the flow of music & the differences on what speaks to a person in a song that makes them love it. This massage was no different, except because I know the person who did the massage I decided to bring it up afterward. I bought up that I happened to have the weirdest thought and she asked me what it was about. Here is the conversation that followed:
Amanda: I was completely letting my mind go & I had this moment with Jesus. He was talking to me about how crazy it was the he got so many people to just believe that he was the son of God. I mean that’s huge. Imagine if someone tried to pull that off nowadays??? He then told me that ultimately he is just a guy, completely human, but that everyone is capable of something amazing if people only believe in them.
Julie: Oddly enough I am not surprised. People have told me before that they have had strange thoughts & some have included Jesus or something religious. It all depends on what points are released during the massage.
I am not surprised that I am not the only one that has their mind wander towards that. We even talked about whether or not people would share the randomness that pops into their head while they are going through massages in an open forum. Feel free to share in the comments. I know that I have also had the thought that what if animals could actually talk but didn’t want to communicate with us because we take care of them so well.
I just had to share…
